circle time (for mamas)

women are amazing! we are capable of great creation. we do it all. for some reason though, we find it difficult to come together and simply honor each other for the absolutely beautiful beings that we are. that is what the circle is for. it's for sitting down with women and recharging your spirit which is exactly what i did last night. and it was much needed. the winter months seem to rest heavy on my spirit and releasing all of the baggage of late and allowing the positive energy to make its way in is the souls best medicine.

marin, a doula, child birth educator, goddess, priestess, and dear friend, holds women's circles for mothers here in nyack. check out marin's site for links to where and when her workshops are. her abounding spirit and wise intuitiveness lead these circles and create a space of warmth, safety and love. for those mamas (pregnant, new and seasoned) out there who are local and haven't attended a circle, it is such a special way to nurture ourselves - which i know can be put on the back burner but is so necessary. and for those of you that are not local, seek out your local circle or just gather. (total side note: read the red tent if you haven't already - a great fiction about our ancient sisters and the rituals of gathering together during birth and menses.

today i feel rejuvenated and inspired. thank you marin and thank you to all of my sisters who sat in circle and shared yourselves.

the photos above are actually not from last night but from a circle that was held at my home a few years ago and of course lead but marin. i decided to gather the special women in my life  - all generations - to celebrate my healing and new beginnings. it was a night that i will hold in my heart forever.

below is a quote that i try to read over and over to remind me of my divinity.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  —Marianne Williamson

That sounds like an incredible experience, Melly. I've attended a couple of Marin's workshops - one was a "harvest" theme - a very special couple of hours. My daughter went to one too, and we still talk about it. She is so inspiring...

I love your new header!
