falling for fall!
october is here! i so love october. all of a sudden with the first of the month (and the full moon) i switch to autumnal mode. sweaters, boots and hats are allowed to come out. oranges, browns and yellows adorn my table. collections of acorns, fallen leaves, and other interesting items are scattered around the house. the harvest of foods that are served include more squashes and cinnamon starts to taste appropriate again. oh, and how i love to make soups! i am going to try this broccoli soup recipe from soulemama tonight. i look forward to posting more fun fall things.... yay!

Hi Melly! - thanks for stopping by Nyack Backyard - nice to "meet" you and your blog. How fun to have another Nyack blog to follow!
We were walking the dog this afternoon and saw tons of acorns and pine cones on the ground. I immediately tried to think of some craft projects for them, but they look just beautiful by themselves in a bowl.
And I know what you mean about finally being "ready" for the cinnamon! How did the broccoli soup turn out?
hi! nice to meet you as well. this blogging stuff is funny and fun. i am enjoying it more than i thought i would. i just enabled comments and although i started this blog early in the year, i haven't really told anyone about it. i just wanted to kind of document or journal "the little things." but now i think i'd like to tell people i know, or atleast family. how did you go about letting people know that you have a blog?
anyway, the broccoli soup came out perfect and a lot easier than i had imagined it would be. i have a "magic bullet" mini blender thingy and it made the soup very creamy. my toddler liked it the best!
i am hoping to make a nature mobile out of some of our fall findings but we'll see if we get any moment this weekend to actually sit down and do this.
have a great weekend! -melanie
