we all played hookie and trecked out east on long island for the annual strawberry pick. the day was glorious. this is my most cherished tradition. for as long as i can remember, we have been picking strawberries every june. the ritual includes finding old clothes that you won't worry about getting stained, packing sandwiches and gathering nan's old boxes that she has used over an over for many years. the image of my grandmother below is one of the first images of her that i have in my memory. she has hardly changed and is always out there picking. she picks enough to make jam to give out for the entire year. god bless her.
tres is turning one on wednesday. where did that time go? this year has flown by me. i have enjoyed it and my happy little buddha is proof. check out the tissue box surprise. she was so intrigued. so funny.
ah, summer. i love the fact that i can just roll out of bed and walk out on to my porch barefoot. i am loving the fresh produce and abundance of blooms. i am enjoying our patio at night with a nice cold beer. the weather has been especially perfect the last few days. the seemingly endless rain has seized and has made everything grow twice their size. some images...
we kicked off the first week of summer by going to missouri to visit friends. the highlight was spending time at a 700+ acre farm. i didn't realize how city-folkish we were until we were out there feeding the cattle. they were enormous! it was beautiful and truly a whole other world.
our fourth of july felt extra patriotic this year. i wonder why? eden choreographed a flag ceremony and sang the star spangled banner. we spent the weekend with good friends and good spirits and the time spent always feels too short.
